Lena Mirow´s art shows how complex we human beings are, and how fascinating it is that we still remain intact. We carry a lot inside, sometimes since generations back. We need to develop approaches, and adapt to, various environments and situations. Sometimes all the parts we are made of, and our dreams of who we are, constitute a marvelous entity. Sometimes they fall apart, which the artist shows with humour and warmth. The pieces of art show our beauty, our weakness, and at the same time our strength.

Lena Mirow works in the technique assemblage, and contrasts at different levels in the work that takes on a multitude of forms, using for example beautiful old spare parts, rusty iron and pearls against metal net. Art has always played a central role in her life as a member of a creative family where her father headed an art school in Malmö, Sweden. After a long career as a diplomat with no space for creativity, she has now returned to her real passion – art.

Lena Mirow lives and works in Stockholm, Sweden.
